Narendra Modi pacifies LK Advani
In his first-ever visit to New Delhi after the elevation as BJP’s Election Campaign Committee Chairman, Gujarat CM Narendra Modi met veteran leader LK Advani and pacified him. The duo talked for about one hour at Advani’s residence. Advani reportedly told Modi that he could not go to Goa because of ill health. The BJP patriarch further said that he was not upset at Modi’s elevation, rather he was disappointed with functioning of the party.
Narendra Modi reassured Advani that he would take everyone in the party along. Modi also said that Advani will remain the tallest leader of the party and his guidance and blessings will always be required. The Gujarat CM sought the blessings from Advani before launching his campaign. On the strained relationship between BJP and JD(U), Modi categorically said that the party does not need such allies who are against it and change colour frequently. He also stressed on the need for strengthening the party.
Before meeting Advani, Modi met senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi to thank him for the support. He also met former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the latter’s residence. In addition, Modi held talks with BJP President Rajnath Singh and other office bearers of the party to discuss future strategy.
