The entire Bollywood plunged into grief and sadness, as actress Jiah Khan committed suicide by hanging herself after losing the battle to depression. Jiah, who had been under severe depression, as she did not get any films in the last three years, was found dead at her flat in the’Sagar Sangeet’ apartment in Juhu, Mumbai.
No suicide note was found in Jiah’s flat. Big B Amitabh Bachahan led the Bollywood to mourn Jiah’s sad end. Jiah had made her debut in Ram Gopal Varma’s “Nishabd” (2007) opposite Amitabh Bachchan. She also starred in “Ghajini” (2008) opposite Aamir Khan and “Housefull” (2010) opposite Akshay Kumar.
However, she failed to get any other movies in the last three years and got a series of rejections from the filmmakers. Jiah’s mother and sister were not at home when the incident occurred.
The news of Jiah Khan’s death was first reported by Dia Mirza on Twitter at around 1:45 AM. Jiah’s mother Rabiya Amin, was an actress in the 1980s. She confirmed that Jiah was suffering from severe depression because of setbacks in professional life. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police are questioning Jiah’s boyfriend Suraj Pancholi, who is also the son of actor Aditya Pancholi in connection with her suicide.
