Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, has emerged as a box office juggernaut, maintaining massive momentum following a historic opening. After a staggering ₹145 crore haul on its first day, the film continued its record-breaking run on Friday, despite it being a weekday.
Friday Box Office Performance
The film’s initial opening included ₹43 crore net from paid previews and ₹102 crore net on day one. On its second day (Friday), the momentum remained strong even as festive celebrations for Ugadi and Gudi Padwa concluded. By 8 PM on Friday, the film had earned an additional ₹73 crore net across India, primarily driven by the original Hindi version.
This performance brings the film’s total domestic collection to ₹218 crore. According to Sacnilk, the sequel maintained a remarkable 56% occupancy. During morning and afternoon shows, a significant feat for a major release on a working day. Stronger footfalls in evening and night shows are expected to push the total past the ₹220 crore mark quickly.
Surpassing Major Milestones
In just two days, Dhurandhar 2 has already surpassed. The lifetime domestic collections of two high-profile superstar films released last year. By crossing the ₹150 crore mark on Friday morning, it overtook Salman Khan’s Sikandar. Which earned ₹145 crore net, and Prabhas’ The RajaSaab, which concluded its run at ₹147 crore net.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the sequel features an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. Following the massive success of the first Dhurandhar, which earned ₹1300 crore worldwide and remained in theaters. For three months after its December release, the sequel is project to exceed its predecessor’s performance.
