FIR Filed Against Two Assistant Engineers For Forging Deputy Speaker’s Signature

Date:

TNI Bureau: An FIR has been lodged against two Assistant Executive Engineers (AEEs) for allegedly forging the signature of Odisha Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Bhawani Shankar Bhoi, misusing his official D.O. pad, and preparing fake documents to secure transfers.

In a complaint submitted to the Inspector-in-Charge of Capital Police Station, Deputy Speaker’s Personal Secretary, Niranjan Kumar Sahu, levelled serious allegations against Monalisa Behera, Assistant Engineer of Banspal Block, and Laxman Hembram, Assistant Engineer of Harichandanpur Block.

According to the complaint, the two officials allegedly prepared forged documents bearing the fake signature of the Deputy Speaker and used his office’s official D.O. pad. The documents were reportedly submitted to the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department in an attempt to obtain transfers to Bargaon and Sadar blocks in Sundargarh district.

The Deputy Speaker’s office has categorically stated that the letters in question were neither issued nor authorised by the office. The complaint alleges that the acts constitute serious offences, including forgery of government documents, impersonation, criminal conspiracy, and violations under the Information Technology Act.

The complainant has urged the Capital Police to register an FIR immediately and initiate stringent legal action against the accused in accordance with the law.
