TNI Bureau: A minor girl was allegedly gang‑raped near her home in Kendrapada in the early hours of 16th June. The victim’s mother filed a written complaint at Kendrapada Sadar Police Station and an FIR has been registered.

According to the FIR, the girl, whose family works as sweepers near Jajang Kali Temple, went about 50 feet from her residence for sanitation when two intoxicated men approached, slapped her, took her to a nearby area and sexually assaulted her. Her mother and elder sister rushed to the scene after hearing her cries; the accused fled, leaving behind their footwear and a liquor bottle, both seized as evidence.

Police have identified two primary suspects from Tarando village under Nikirai PS: Shubham Kumar Nayak (alias Lakhanta/Pintu/Akash), 31, and Vinod Bihari Mallik, 35. Additional IIC Basudev Parida has been assigned to lead the investigation, and the SP has ordered prompt and serious legal action while efforts to apprehend the accused continue.
