The patients received free consultations from Dr. Chira Ranjan Khadanga, Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology at SUM Ultimate Medicare. Of the seven beneficiaries, five were suffering from oral cancer, while one patient each was undergoing treatment for prostate and ovarian cancer.

During the session, Dr. Khadanga examined the patients and offered detailed counselling on treatment, follow-up care and disease management. He also interacted with family members, providing emotional support and guidance throughout the consultation process.

Among the beneficiaries was Bhagaram Mandal from Rourkela, who said the free OPD service had reduced the financial burden of repeated consultations and follow-up visits. Another patient, Prakash Kumar Mohanty, who had discontinued treatment nearly eight months ago, decided to resume his cancer care after receiving medical advice and counselling through the Foundation’s initiative.

The Foundation said the Free Cancer OPD Consultation Service will continue every Thursday, helping patients—particularly those facing financial and logistical challenges—access expert oncologists, timely medical support and quality cancer care.
