TNI Bureau: The Central Government has reportedly restricted access to the Telegram platform across India until June 22, 2026, ahead of the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination. The move, taken by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, follows recommendations from the National Testing Agency (NTA) to prevent the misuse of messaging services during the examination period.
In a related measure, Telegram’s message-editing feature for previously posted content has also been disabled until June 30, 2026. The decision is aimed at curbing the spread of misleading or fabricated claims of question paper leaks linked to national-level examinations.
According to reports, the temporary restrictions have been imposed to safeguard the integrity of the NEET re-examination and prevent the circulation of misinformation that could create confusion among candidates and the public.
