To mark the milestone, the Cabinet passed a resolution praising Modi’s leadership and governance over the past 12 years. Union ministers also gave a standing ovation to the Prime Minister during the Cabinet meeting.

The resolution highlighted the government’s achievements in welfare schemes, national security, infrastructure development, foreign policy, agriculture, poverty alleviation and food security. It also credited the government for strengthening India’s economy and enhancing the country’s global standing.

Later in the day, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was also expected to felicitate Modi and acknowledge his record-breaking tenure. Discussions were likely to focus on his government’s work in infrastructure, welfare delivery, economic reforms and national security.

Modi first took office on May 26, 2014, and was re-elected in 2019 and 2024, becoming Prime Minister for a third consecutive term. His tenure has coincided with the BJP’s emergence as the dominant political force in the country.

On the occasion, Modi shared a message on social media, saying that public trust is earned through selfless service, humility, dedication and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of citizens. He stressed that leaders who remain focused on public welfare and development ultimately earn the confidence and respect of the people.
