Odisha Cabinet Clears Recruitment Reforms, Approves ₹17,250 Crore Kalyani Manufacturing Project

Date:

TNI Bureau: The Odisha Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, approved the Odisha Uniformed Services Staff Selection Commission (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service of the Chairman and Members) Rules, 2026.

This completes the framework under the OUSSSC Rules, 2025, enabling the appointment of a Chairman and two Members. The Commission will now conduct centralized, transparent, and technology-driven recruitment for uniformed services across the Odisha Police, Excise, Forest and Environment, and Commerce and Transport departments. The reform aims to eliminate past irregularities and ensure a fair, merit-based selection process.

In another major decision, the Cabinet approved a ₹17,250-crore integrated manufacturing complex proposed by the Kalyani Group at Gajamara in Dhenkanal district. The project, spread over nearly 1,100 acres under the special provisions of IPR 2022, will integrate specialty steel, super alloys, casting and forging units, along with vendor parks for titanium, auto components, aerospace and defence supply chains, including facilities linked to Bharat Forge.

The project is expected to significantly boost industrial growth, generate employment opportunities, and strengthen Odisha’s position in advanced manufacturing and defence production. Several other proposals were also approved during the Cabinet meeting.
