1,543 Receive Appointment Letters at 14th Nijukti Mela; CM Urges Integrity and Public Service

TNI Bureau: As many as 1,543 candidates received appointment letters across 11 government departments at the 14th Nijukti Mela held at the Rail Auditorium in Bhubaneswar. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi handed over appointment letters to newly recruited officers and employees and advised them to remain honest, corruption-free and committed to public service.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the Nijukti Mela plays a crucial role in realising the vision of a developed Odisha and a developed India. He said the state government has been continuously working to provide employment opportunities to youth. “In just 18 months, the government has provided 39,459 government jobs,” he said.

The Chief Minister reminded the new recruits that they had reached this stage through hard work and perseverance, and the appointment letter symbolised their success and responsibility. He urged them to strengthen grassroots governance, ensure transparency, accountability and quick redressal of public grievances. “Remain corruption-free yourself and stay committed to making the system corruption-free. Never forget your duty and responsibility towards the people,” he said.

Appointments were made to various departments, including School and Mass Education, Agriculture, Revenue and Disaster Management, Finance, Labour, Cooperation, Tourism, Home, Food Supplies, Skill Development and Planning. Key recruitments included physical education instructors, teachers, soil conservation officials, Odisha Administrative Service and Revenue Service officers, finance and labour officers, tourism officers, police service officers and others.

Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo urged newly appointed sports instructors to work towards producing at least 10 Olympians from Odisha by 2036. Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Prabhati Parida called upon the recruits to turn their dreams for 2036 into strong commitments, expressing hope that people would receive improved services through them.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said from now on, the general public would be the true evaluator of their work, adding that public trust was more valuable than any certificate. School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond advised the recruits to serve with truth, integrity and dedication.

During the event, the Chief Minister also felicitated national award-winning teachers Basant Kumar Rana of Malkangiri and Tarun Kumar Das of Koraput. Several newly appointed candidates expressed gratitude to the state government for the transparent and fair recruitment process.

Senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh, attended the programme. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by School and Mass Education Commissioner-cum-Secretary N. Thirumala Naik.
