TNI Bureau: BJD president and former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed concern over the credibility of the country’s education and examination system, calling for a detailed discussion in Parliament and comprehensive reforms to restore public confidence.
In a statement, Naveen said education is the foundation of a bright future for millions of students and has played a key role in building generations of doctors, scientists, engineers and teachers. However, he said recent developments have weakened public trust in the examination system and raised serious questions about its fairness and reliability.
He stated that issues such as question paper leaks, faulty evaluation and weaknesses in exam management are affecting deserving students and creating doubts about the value of hard work. He stressed that students from economically weaker backgrounds depend on education as a means of improving their lives, and any threat to that opportunity could harm the nation’s future.
Naveen urged the government to treat the issue as a national priority and introduce strong and lasting reforms. He also called for accountability against those responsible for lapses in the system. At the same time, he appealed to the government to begin a constructive dialogue with students who are peacefully protesting and provide them with a platform to express their concerns.
He said meaningful dialogue, rather than silence, is the way forward in a healthy democracy. Reaffirming support for students and youth, Naveen said the Biju Janata Dal will continue to stand firmly for their legitimate interests and rights.
