TNI Bureau: At a Nijukti Mela held in Bhubaneswar, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi distributed appointment letters to 1,543 newly selected candidates from 11 government departments. Addressing the gathering, he expressed serious concern over the increasing instances of corruption involving government officials in the state and issued a strong warning to newly appointed officers and employees to uphold integrity in public service.
Referring to recent Vigilance cases, the Chief Minister cited an incident in which an Additional Tahasildar was allegedly found with ₹75 lakh in cash concealed under a bed. He pointed out that significant amounts of cash, gold and multiple land plots are being recovered from government officials during anti-corruption raids, underlining the seriousness of the problem.
He said the State Vigilance organisation is working actively and intensifying its efforts to curb corruption. Urging newly recruited officials and staff to remain honest and transparent, the Chief Minister cautioned them against engaging in any corrupt practices during their service.
“I pray to God that those who have received new appointments do not indulge in corruption and do not appear on television or in news reports for the wrong reasons,” he said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to clean, transparent and accountable governance.
