UK Returnee tests positive for Covid-19 in Odisha

TNI Bureau:  A man, who has returned from the United Kingdom recently, tested positive for Covid-19  in Bhubaneswar.

A 34 year old male reached Bhubaneswar from UK on 18th December and tested Covid positive in a Private lab.

He was shifted to Government sponsored Covid hospital immediately. he has mild flu-like symptoms. Confirmatory test on Spike Genome Sequencing is being done through RMRC to ascertain the Covid strain.

Contact tracing has been already completed as per Government guidelines.

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Prem Chandra Choudhury urged people not to get panic over new COVID strain.

Indian Government on Tuesday issued SOPs for passengers arriving from UK in view of new coronavirus strain.

UK returnees subjected to RT-PCR test on arrival and passengers testing positive shall be isolated in an institutional isolation facility.
