TNI Bureau: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is all set to get a big jolt, as BJD MP Debashish Samantaray will quit the party on Monday and join the BJP in New Delhi. Once it happens, BJD’s Rajya Sabha strength will go down to 5.
According to reports, former Cuttack Corporator Ranjan Biswal will also quit BJD to join BJP alongside Debashish Samantaray. BJP’s State Unit President Manmohan Samal and Chief Minister Mohan Majhi are expected to attend the joining program, it is learnt.
Debashish Samantaray reportedly met Union Minister Amit Shah on Saturday to finalise the “deal”. In all probability, he will get the renomination to Rajya Sabha till 2030 like Sujeet Kumar and Mamata Mohanta, who were re-nominated after quitting BJD.
