TNI Bureau: The brutal murder of a pregnant woman in Odisha’s Hinjili has taken a fresh political turn after BJD General Secretary Ranjita Sahu launched a sharp attack on Aska MP Anita Subhadarshini over her alleged silence and absence following the incident.
In a strongly worded statement, Ranjita Sahu questioned the sensitivity and responsibility of the ruling party leaders, alleging that the local MP failed to stand beside the grieving family after the horrific crime.
“When the pregnant woman was brutally murdered in front of her three-year-old child at Hinjili, the local Aska MP Anita Subhadarshini was having lunch at Rambha Palace on May 5. But she did not have the time to visit the bereaved family or console the shocked child,” Sahu stated.
The BJD leader said the incident has shaken public conscience across Odisha and raised serious concerns over women’s safety and the state government’s response to rising crimes against women.
The murder had already triggered outrage after reports emerged that the victim was allegedly threatened earlier and later killed brutally, leaving her minor child traumatized.
Opposition leaders have accused the administration of negligence and demanded strict action against those responsible.
Ranjita Sahu further alleged that the silence of elected representatives reflects the “insensitivity of the government machinery” towards victims and their families. She demanded immediate justice for the murdered woman and proper support for the surviving child and family members.
The incident continues to spark political confrontation in Odisha, with opposition parties intensifying their attack on the state government over law and order and women’s security.
