TNI Bureau: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has ordered a Crime Branch probe into errors found in Odisha’s school textbooks for Classes I to VIII. He has also directed the SCERT Director to file an FIR with the Crime Branch in connection with the issue.
The Chief Minister took the decision after reviewing the matter and ordered a criminal investigation into the entire textbook preparation process.
Earlier, a committee headed by the Development Commissioner was formed to examine the errors. Based on its report, the former SCERT Director and three Assistant Directors were suspended, while disciplinary action was initiated against six other Assistant Directors.
The Crime Branch will now investigate how the errors occurred in the textbooks.
