TNI Bureau: The Odisha Government will provide revised, error-free textbooks to students after mistakes were found in the new books introduced for Classes I to VIII this academic year, School and Mass Education Commissioner-cum-Secretary Dr. N. Thirumala Naik said today.
He said the Chief Minister has taken the issue seriously and directed the department to ensure that students receive corrected textbooks at the earliest.
A committee headed by the Development Commissioner was formed to investigate how the errors occurred and fix responsibility. The government has already initiated action based on the committee’s findings and will take further steps if required.
Dr. Naik said the textbooks are being reviewed by subject experts. The revised versions will soon be uploaded on the School and Mass Education Department and OSEPA websites for feedback from academicians and the public.
He added that new, error-free textbooks will be distributed to students as soon as possible. Until then, corrected content will be provided to teachers so that classroom teaching is not affected.
