TNI Bureau: Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Dilip Kumar Ray today raised the issue of establishing a satellite centre of AIIMS at Rourkela, Odisha, during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.
Shri Ray sought information from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare regarding the Government’s plans for setting up a satellite centre of AIIMS Bhubaneswar at Rourkela.
Responding to the query, the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, informed the House that AIIMS Bhubaneswar, established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), currently has a satellite centre at Balasore. The Minister further stated that, in the current phase of PMSSY, there is no proposal to establish any new Satellite Centre of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar in Odisha.
The issue highlights Dilip Kumar Ray’s continued efforts to raise matters concerning the strengthening of healthcare infrastructure and improving access to advanced medical facilities for the people of western Odisha through parliamentary forums.
