Odisha Enforces Six-Month Strike Ban Across Electricity Sector

TNI Bureau: The Odisha Government has imposed a six-month ban on strikes in the state’s power sector by invoking the Odisha Essential Services (Maintenance) Act, 1988 (ESMA). The order has come into effect immediately.

The restriction applies to employees and establishments associated with major power utilities and organisations, including GRIDCO, OPTCL, OHPC, OPGC, TPCODL, TPNODL, TPSODL and TPWODL, along with other power sector entities operating in the state.

The government said the decision was taken to ensure uninterrupted power generation, transmission and distribution services across Odisha. The move is aimed at maintaining essential electricity supply and safeguarding grid operations in the state.
