TNI Bureau: Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi has announced that the Government Medical College and Hospital in Phulbani will be renamed after Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati to honour his lifelong contribution to tribal welfare in Kandhamal.

The Chief Minister also sanctioned ₹13 crore from the Chief Minister’s Special Assistance Fund for the development of the Jalespata Ashram, its school and girls’ hostel. The package includes a ₹5 crore, 300-seat girls’ hostel, ₹3 crore for conservation of Swami Ji’s legacy, a ₹60 lakh Mega River Lift Project for water supply, and funds for classrooms, hostels, toilets, boundary walls and other infrastructure upgrades.
