TNI Bureau: The Odisha Government has approved a ₹949.35-crore project to upgrade the 9.5-km road corridor from Kalinga Stadium Gate No. 4 to Raghunathpur Bridge via Jaydev Vihar and Nandankanan.
The project aims to reduce traffic congestion, improve road safety and ensure smoother connectivity between Bhubaneswar, Baranga and Cuttack. The existing six-lane road will be widened to eight lanes, with flyovers to be constructed at major junctions including Jaydev Vihar, Kalinga Hospital Square, Damana Square and KIIT Square.
The project will also include service roads, drainage systems, pedestrian facilities, slip roads, roundabouts, parking bays, bus bays and road beautification works.
According to the Works Department, the corridor is a key urban route and the upgrade is expected to improve traffic flow, reduce travel time and support the city’s future growth. The project also includes avenue plantation and a 10-year maintenance provision.
