Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) R. Gopalan said the exercise is aimed at ensuring an accurate and error-free electoral roll ahead of upcoming elections. More than 58 lakh notices are being issued to verify discrepancies in voter records. Of these, nearly 58 lakh notices have already been generated, while around 8 lakh have been delivered and over 1.4 lakh cases have been heard.

The draft electoral roll was published on July 5, taking July 1, 2026, as the qualifying date. The final electoral roll will be released on September 6 after all claims and objections are examined and disposed of.

Voters can apply for inclusion of names, correction of details, deletion of entries or change of address through Booth Level Officers (BLOs), the Election Commission’s voter portal or the ECINET mobile app.
