By Aurobinda Das: NSPCL Rourkela organized Rural Sports Meet-2013 at Sec-18 High School Playground. In order to nurture the young talents and harness their potential, NSPCL, Rourkela under its Corporate Social Responsibilities Scheme has been organising this event for High School Children from Class-VIII to X of rural areas near-by & around Rourkela city.
According to the source the event got a rousing response and around 250 boys & girls participants from 21 rural high schools namely from Panposh, Bonai, Jhirpani, Jagda, Jabaghat and Bisra have participated in different events of the Meet like 100 mtrs, 200 Mtrs, 800 mtrs. race, 4×100 mtrs relay race, High Jump, Long Jump, Putting-the-short, in both boys and girls categories.

Yogendra Singh, GM and Business Unit Head (BUH), NSPCL, Rourkela distributed prizes to winners of different events. Bijaya Tirkey of Govt High School, Bisra and Kumari Labani Mahanta of Govt High School, Bonai have been adjudged Best Athlete among Boys and Best Athlete among Girls respectively and have been awarded trophies by Sri Singh.
Early in the morning, a mashal rally was taken out from Sec-9 to the venue in which N K Mishra, AGM (O&M), P Gangopadhyay, president NSPCL Sport Council and all employees participated. M K Barman, GM (P&A), RSP formally inaugurated the event.
