Khirod Mallick’s anticipatory bail plea was rejected by a trial court. He was booked under Section 307 (attempt to murder). Khirod is also an accused in the firing incident involving a girl in April 2012.

The firing incident is said to have links with the acid attack, as the call centre girl, who was injured in the shooting, is a relative of the man, who was targeted in acid attack. The police suspect that the family was targeted by Khirod over a financial dispute.
