LPG Prices Hiked; Domestic and Commercial Cylinders Costlier

The price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder has been increased by ₹60, while the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder, commonly used by restaurants, hotels and small businesses, has been hiked by ₹115. The revised prices came into effect immediately in major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. Domestic LPG refill will now cost Rs 939 in Bhubaneswar.

Following the revision, the cost of a domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi has crossed around ₹900, with similar increases recorded in other metro cities. The price change will directly impact millions of households that depend on LPG for everyday cooking.

Officials said the hike is linked to rising global energy prices and supply concerns triggered by tensions in West Asia. Fluctuations in international fuel markets often influence domestic LPG prices, prompting periodic revisions by oil marketing companies.

The increase in commercial cylinder prices may also lead to higher operational costs for eateries, hotels and food vendors, which could eventually affect food prices.

Meanwhile, beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will continue to receive subsidised cylinders as part of the government’s effort to support economically weaker households.

The latest price hike underscores the growing pressure on energy costs amid global geopolitical uncertainties.
