Odia Wikipedia Workshop Held at Gangadhar Mahapatra Law College in Puri

TNI Bureau: A workshop on Odia Wikipedia was organized at Gangadhar Mahapatra Law College in Puri by the Odia Wikimedians User Group to promote awareness about contributing to online knowledge platforms in the Odia language.

The workshop was held under the chairmanship of college faculty member Dr. Lokanath Suar. Experienced Wikipedian Aliva Sahu moderated the session and introduced participants to the Wikipedia community and its activities.

Prominent Wikipedian Sangram Keshari Senapati attended the programme as the trainer and conducted a hands-on session on contributing to Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects. He explained the basics of editing articles, creating content, and participating in the global Wikimedia community.

The workshop was organized with the support of social worker Abhishek Srichandan and college student Tanmay Kumar. More than 40 students from the college actively participated in the session.

The event was part of the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of Wikipedia. As part of the anniversary activities, several meetups and workshops are being organized across Odisha to encourage people to contribute to Odia-language knowledge resources.

Earlier, similar programmes, including exhibitions and anniversary celebrations, were held in Bhubaneswar and during the Bhadrak District Festival to promote awareness about Wikipedia and its community-driven mission.
