‘Nirbhay’ Missile Test Terminated

Date:

India test-fired its first indigenously developed sub-sonic cruise missile ‘Nirbhay’ at 11:54 AM today from the  Integrated Test Range at Chandipur near Balasore in Odisha. However, the flight deviated from its path and had to be aborted to ensure coastal safety. The test was a partial success, confirmed DRDO.

Nirbhay has a range of 1,000 km and has the capabilities similar to US-made Tomahawk. It has been developed by the Aeronautical Development Establishment, a DRDO laboratory.

“Nirbhay has good loitering capability, control and guidance, a high degree of accuracy in terms of impact and very good stealth features, said ITR in a statement. The wreckage of ‘Nirbhay’ missile were found in Ersama area of Jagatsinghpur.
