Youth Congress Cadres beaten up in Cuttack

Date:

It seems that the Commissionerate Police are increasing becoming impatient and intolerant day by day at the behest of BJD government in Odisha. Cuttack is worst-affected. After the barbaric action on the lawyers, the Cuttack Police have gone on a rampage and beat up the Youth Congress cadres outside the District Collector’s office on February 12.

The Youth Congress workers had gone to the Collector’s office to submit a memorandum on the +2 question paper leak in Odisha. They were demanding resignation of Odisha Higher Education Minister Badrinarayan Patra. As the Collector refused to meet them, they tried to enter the office by force, which forced the police to use force. However, the way the young women Congress cadres were beaten up, that drew flak from all quarters.

At least 10-12 Congress workers were injured in the lathicharge. None of the policemen were injured, which clearly shows that there was no big provocation, which would lead to such a strong action. The injured were admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital. Some of them sustained head injuries.

Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Niranjan Patnaik and many other senior Congress leaders have condemned the incident.
