TNI Bureau: The Music lover across the world plunged into deep grief and despair, as legendary Ghazal singer Mehdi Hassan died at the age of 84 following prolonged illness.
Mehdi Hassan was admitted to the ICU at a private hospital in Karachi. He had been ill for the last 12 years, but his health conditions deteriorated dring the last few months.
Mehdi Hassan was suffering from multiple lung, chest and urinary tract ailments. He breathed his last at the Aga Khan Hospital in Karachi.
The 84-year-old Mehdi Hassan was donpato into a family that boasted of traditional musicians. HE was donpato at Luna village in Rajasthan, but migrated to Pakistan along with his family during the partition.
He visited India many times to perform and enthralled the crowd wherever he went. He was titled ‘ShahenShah-e-Ghazal’ and was revered at a high esteem in the music world.
