TNI BUreau: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called an emergency meeting to review the law and order situation after TMC and Left workers’ clashes that left many people injured today. The high level meeting was called at Writers’ Buildings after a rally by CPI(M) turned violent in Bhangar in South 24 Parganas.

The Left workers claimed that they were attacked with bombs and firearms by their political rival TMC workers while they were heading towards Kolkata for a party rally. They alleged that stones were hurled at some buses and bullets were fired at others at Bamunghaata.

CPM leader Mohammed Salim criticised the TMC government for the clashes. The Left leaders will meet the Governor in evening about the assault on their workers.

The clash took place out of anger as alleged by the Left workers. The CPM workers were moving towards for the demonstration in Kolkata demanding the arrest of TMC leader Aarabul Islam, who was allegedly responsible for the attack on Rezzak Mollah, an ex-minister.
