Revolt in JD(U), as Upendra Kushwaha resigns from RS

Date:

TNI Bureau: Upendra Kushwaha, a Rajya Sabha MP from Bihar, has revolted against Nitish Kumar and resigned as the RS member and from the primary membership of the party. He called Nitish Kumar a “dictator” while resigning. Kushwaha is all set to form a new political outfit with the help of a few other JD(U) leaders.

He recently defied the party whip and decided in favour of FDI in Retail on Rajya Sabha, offering full support to the Congress-led UPA Government.

Upendra Kushwaha is seen as a powerful leader in Bihar. He worked hard with full support to Nitish Kumar to oust RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav in 2005. His exit is being viewed as a big setback to JD(U).
