Pritam Munde wins Beed by Record Victory Margin
Pritam Munde, youngest daughter of late Gopinath Munde won the Beed Lok Sabha bypoll by a record victory margin of 696,321 votes. The previous record was held by Anil Basu (CPI-M) who had defeated his rival in Arambagh (West Bengal) by 592,502 votes in 2004 polls. The second highest victory margin was held by Narendra Modi, who won Vadodara seat in 2014 by 570,128 votes.
Pritam Munde polled 922,416 votes, while her nearest rival Ashokrao Shankarrao Patil secured 226,095 votes. Gopinath Munde’s eldest daughter Pankaja Munde won the Parli assembly seat by 25,895 votes.
It can be noted that the bypoll in Beed was necessitated following the tragic death of late Gopinath Munde in a road accident soon after the Lok Sabha polls. Munde was a Cabinet Minister in Modi Government when he died. The Shiv Sena and NCP had not fielded any candidate against Pritam Munde.
