Mumbai Violence was Pre-planned: Raj Thackeray

Date:

TNI Bureau: The MNS chief Raj Thackeray blasted on the Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil and police commissioner Arup Patnaik for not punishing the culprits involved in the Mumbai violence on August 11.

Demanding the resignations of Patil and Patnaik, Raj alleged that the violence on August 11 in Azad Maidan was pre-planned. He alleged that the Mumbai police commissioner Arup Patnaik failed to prevent the violence in which 2 people were killed and over 50 were injured.

Addressing the crowd at Azad Maidan following the rally on Tuesday afternoon, Raj said that the march was taken out to show the solidarity to policemen and media persons, who were attacked during the violence.

The MNS chief had taken out the rally from Girgaum Chowpatty and his supporters moved towards Azad Maidan.

Earlier, Mumbai police had not granted him permission to hold the rally fearing traffic jam and law and order problems in the city. However, the police finally had to give in to the determination of defiant Raj on Tuesday.
