Odia Actor Papu Pam Pam joins BJD

Ollywood’s top comedian and leading actor of ‘Rangila Toka’ and ‘Chauka Chhaka’, Tatwa Prakash Satpathy alias Papu Pam Pam has joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) this morning in the presence of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Around 72 leaders and cadres of Congress and BJP from Nabarangpur district, also joined the BJD today.

Papu-Pam-PamPapu Pam Pam, who hails from Kaptipada in Mayurbhanj district, started his career in Odia jatras and music festivals as a comedian. He also held the position of Dramatic Secretary at Udala College during his academic life.

Papu, a trained Hindustani Vocalist, moved to Bhubaneswar after his graduation. He started singing for Odia album songs. Later, he got an offer from Radio Chokolate to script laughter shows. That gave a new dimension to his career. He joined Tarang TV in 2009 and hosted comedy shows “Excuse me”, “Phaltu Katha” and “Papu Beauty Parlour”,”Excuse Me Jaha Kahibi Sata Kahibi” .

There was no looking back after that soon Papu Pam Pam made his debut in ‘Prathama Prema’ in 2005. He also acted in ‘Sanju Aau Sanjana’, ‘Megha Sabari Re Asiba Pheri’, ‘Most Wanted’, ‘Chatire Lekhichi Tori Naa’, ‘Balunga Toka’, ‘Kebe Tame Naha Kebe Mu Nahi’ etc. He got the lead role in ‘Rangila Toka’ and parallel lead role in ‘Chauka Chhaka’.

It would be interesting to see what role Papu Pam Pam is going to play in Odisha’s political scenario as a BJD leader. Actor Sidhhant Mohapatra has already become a Lok Sabha MP from Berhmapur after joining the BJD. Papu may too get an assembly ticket in 2014.
