TNI Bureau: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were detained by Delhi Police today during the Congress party’s ‘Chalo PM House’ protest over the NEET issue. The protest was held near the Prime Minister’s residence, where opposition leaders demanded justice for students and a discussion on the issue in Parliament.
Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and several other opposition leaders, including Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, staged a sit-in protest after meeting students who were injured during a recent demonstration over the NEET issue. Police later removed the leaders from the protest site and took them into custody.
The Congress shared videos and photographs of the incident on social media, claiming that its leaders were forcibly detained during the protest. The party has been demanding a discussion on the NEET issue in Parliament, action over the police handling of student protests and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The government, however, said it was willing to discuss the issue in Parliament. Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh said he met Rahul Gandhi during the protest and urged him to end the sit-in. Congress leaders maintained that their protest was aimed at highlighting students’ concerns and seeking accountability on the issue.
