Honda Workers observe Anniversary of ‘2005 Uprising’

Date:

TNI Bureau: Even as the situation in Manesar remains tense following the death of a senior executive at Maruti’s Manesar plant during the violence on July 18, workers of Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India (HMSI) observed the 7th anniversary of the ‘2005 Uprising’.

The ‘2005 Uprising’ in Honda’s Manesar plant, had left 150 people seriously injured. The clash occurred between the police and agitating workers at that time.

The Honda workers expressed solidarity with their colleagues at Maruti Suzuki and demanded an impartial probe. They also wanted the Maruti workers not to be ‘harassed’.

HMSI Workers Union General Secretary Harjeet Singh revealed that they would submit an 11-point memorandum to Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. The police prevented the Honda workers from carrying out a rally outside the plant after the panchayat heads of around 100 villages opposed it.
