TNI Bureau: A small chartered aircraft operated by IndiaOne Air made a forced landing today near Rourkela while flying from Bhubaneswar. All six persons onboard — four passengers, including two men and two women, and two crew members, sustained injuries, but are safe, officials confirmed.
The nine-seater aircraft made the forced landing near Jalda A Block under Raghunathpali police limits after reportedly developing a technical issue mid-air. Eyewitnesses said the aircraft attempted an emergency landing before coming to a halt in the area, causing panic among local residents.
Rescue teams, including three fire brigade units, rushed to the spot and secured the site. As a precautionary measure, the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical examination and treatment. Police officials also reached the location and initiated preliminary inquiries.
Airport authorities later clarified that the incident was not a crash landing but a forced landing, possibly due to an engine-related technical fault. Officials said the aircraft was forced to land about 15 minutes before its scheduled arrival.
Reacting to the incident, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed concern and relief over the safety of the passengers. In a post, he said, “I am deeply saddened to learn about the aircraft incident that occurred in Rourkela. It is reassuring to know that, by the grace of Lord Jagannath, all the passengers are safe. I have directed officials to ensure that those injured receive the best possible medical treatment without delay. I am personally monitoring the situation and pray to Lord Shri Jagannath for the speedy recovery of everyone affected.”
Authorities said further details would emerge after technical assessments and completion of formal investigations.
