CM Mohan Majhi Takes Key Decisions at Health Department Review Meeting

Date:

TNI Bureau: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chaired a review meeting of the Health Department and took several important decisions aimed at strengthening healthcare infrastructure and service delivery across Odisha.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister laid special emphasis on improving health infrastructure and enhancing the efficiency of medical services. As part of this initiative, it was decided that the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) will be implemented on a pilot basis in Keonjhar district. Based on the outcomes of the pilot programme, the digital health mission will later be expanded across the state. The ABDM will enable digital management of healthcare services such as appointment booking, referrals and follow-ups, helping reduce patient waiting time and ensure optimal use of healthcare facilities.

To enhance the skills and specialization of doctors, the Chief Minister approved the launch of Diplomate of National Board (DNB) courses in all District Headquarters Hospitals (DHHs). This move will provide doctors with advanced clinical and practical training within district-level healthcare institutions.

In another significant decision, the Chief Minister directed that AYUSH doctors will prescribe only Ayurvedic medicines and will not prescribe allopathic drugs. To promote AYUSH systems of medicine across the state, he also instructed that Ayurvedic and Homeopathic medicines be made available at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, ensuring better utilization of AYUSH healthcare services.

The decisions are expected to improve healthcare delivery, promote digital health services, strengthen medical education, and encourage traditional systems of medicine in Odisha.
