TNI Bureau: At least seven members of the Hindu community have been killed in Bangladesh since December, the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council has said.
According to the council, the deaths took place amid unrest that followed the killing of radical youth leader Sharif Osman Hadi in December last year. The organisation stated that the incidents occurred in different parts of the country during the period of heightened tension.
While details of five victims have been shared, the council said information about two of the deceased persons is not yet available.
The Unity Council has expressed concern over the safety of religious minorities and has called for a thorough investigation into the incidents and steps to ensure protection of minority communities across Bangladesh.
