Strong Earthquake hits Iran, Tremors in Delhi

A powerful earthquake, measuring 7.8 on the Richter Scale, has hit Pakistan-Iran boarder this afternoon. At least 74 people are reportedly killed in Iran and Pakistan. Strong tremors were felt in Delhi and other parts of the NCR, triggering panic and chaos all around. Tremors were also felt in Punjab and Haryana, across North India, Gujarat and parts of Rajasthan. In Delhi, the magnitude was recorded at 5.3.

All buildings and residential areas are being evacuated as a precautionary measure. The epicentre of the earthquake was located at a place 86 km from Khash, Iran. The quake was 15-feet deep and was very powerful by nature.

Apart from India, tremors were also felt in Pakistan, Middle East and Gulf countries, including UAE and Bahrain. The Iranian media has reported the death of 40 people and severe loss of properties in the earthquake. The death toll could reach 100. At least 34 people were killed in Baluchistan area in Pakistan too.
