Bihar BJP wages War against Nitish Kumar
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar, has slammed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his tirade against Narendra Modi with many leaders moving to Delhi to lodge a strong complaint with party President Rajnath Singh. The Bihar BJP leaders termed Nitish’s remarks as an insult to the party and wanted the central leadership to take a call on the continuance of alliance with JD(U).
With Nitish Kumar and JD(U) refusing to budge from their stand on Narendra Modi, the situation has taken an ugly turn now. The 17-year-old relations between the BJP and JD(U) is on the verge of a collapse, much to the amusement of the Congress, which wanted to break the NDA on communal lines and return to power with the help some other parties that do not approve Modi as PM.
Key Bihar BJP leaders who met Rajnath Singh, included CP Thakur, Ashwini Chaubey and Giriraj Singh. Rajnath Singh will meet the Bihar BJP unit on April 18 to discuss the agenda for 2014 general elections. Although both BJP and JD(U) do not want to end their alliance at this juncture, but with the former going aggressive on Narendra Modi to boost its electoral fortunes, the split looks imminent sooner than later.
