TNI Bureau: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has issued show-cause notices to two of its legislators for remaining absent from crucial party meetings convened at Naveen Niwas in Bhubaneswar.
According to a press release issued by party chief whip Pramila Mallik, Chakramani Kanhar, MLA from Baliguda (ST), and Naba Kishor Mallick, MLA from Jayadev (SC), failed to attend meetings called by party president Naveen Patnaik for three consecutive days. The meetings were considered crucial for internal party coordination and strategy.
Despite the issuance of a party whip mandating their presence, both MLAs remained absent. Taking serious note of the matter, the party leadership has treated the communication as a show-cause notice and directed the two legislators to report at Naveen Niwas by 9 PM on March 15 and explain their absence.
The development comes amid heightened political activity in Odisha. Earlier, the Indian National Congress had also issued a similar notice to Mohana MLA Dasarathi Gamango for remaining unavailable during a critical period. The Congress has reportedly extended the deadline for his appearance before the party leadership until 9 AM tomorrow.
The back-to-back disciplinary actions by both parties indicate tightening control within political ranks as parties gear up for key political developments in the state.
