TNI Bureau: In a heart-wrenching incident that has sent shockwaves across Odisha, five police personnel lost their lives in a devastating road accident early Sunday morning in Jharsuguda.

The tragedy occurred right in front of the Jharsuguda Sadar Police Station when a speeding tipper truck rammed head-on into a Bolero vehicle carrying the officers.

According to preliminary reports, the impact of the collision was so severe that several occupants were trapped inside the mangled vehicle. Despite immediate rescue efforts and swift medical attention, five personnel succumbed to their injuries, leaving the police fraternity and the local community in deep mourning.

The deceased have been identified as Kashiram Bhoi (APR), Niranjan Kujur (Drill Sub-Inspector), Debadatta Sa (APR), Lingaraj Dhurua (APR Havildar), and Bhaktabandhu Mirdha (Home Guard). Their untimely demise has created an irreplaceable void within their respective units and families.

Three other policemen sustained critical injuries in the crash. Dubaraj Mirig (APR), Akash Naik (APR), and Rajiv Bharsagar (Sergeant) are currently undergoing treatment, with doctors closely monitoring their condition.

The incident has once again raised serious concerns over reckless driving and the movement of heavy vehicles at high speed, particularly in populated and sensitive zones. Questions are being asked about enforcement of traffic regulations and monitoring of commercial transport vehicles during early morning hours.

As investigations continue into the exact cause of the accident, tributes have begun pouring in for the brave personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty. The tragedy stands as a grim reminder of the risks faced by those who serve and protect society every day.
