Telangana Stir intensifies after Centre defers Decision

TNI Bureau: Angry Protesters clashed with the police in Hyderabad after Centre deferred the decision of making statehood Telangana. The protest turned violent on Monday. The protesters threatened to intensify the agitation in the city till their demand is not met.

The pro- Telangana activists pelted stones at police vehicles. The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) led a 36-hour relay strike breaking barricades at the Indira Park in Hyderabad.

On Sunday, the pro- Telangana activists had gheraoed the Congress leaders and demanded them to resign from the party if they fail to create another state. The Congress leaders from the region are under pressure after Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said that the consultation process is still on and a final decision will be taken later.

The Telangana Joint Action Committee or TJAC is likely to call for social boycott of Congress ministers. The opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh also accused the Centre of “betrayal” on the Telangana issue.

Latest Update: The Ranga Reddy district court ordered police to file a case against Union Home Minister Sushil Shinde and Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who was the then Home Minister on the issue. The court has admitted a petition against Chidambaram and Shinde accusing them of cheating the people of Telangana with their statements.
