TNI Bureau: The police resorted to lathicharge on block grant teachers and officials, who have been on a strike, demanding the abolition of block grant and adoption of full grant status. Over 20,000 teachers were present during the agitation. Around 30-35 teachers are said to be injured.

The incident occurred in front of the Odisha Assembly in Bhubaneswar. The police lobbed the teargas shells and then resorted to lathicharge when the teachers tried to break the barricade.
The lower PMG has become a battlefield, as police and teachers are engaged in a pitched battle. Many women teachers were also injured in the lathicharge.
