Sabyasachi Panda’s Aides surrender in Ganjam

TNI Bureau: The Odisha police received a another major breakthrough in its fight against the Maoists, as three ultras belonging to Sabyasachi Panda’s group, surrendered before Ganjam SP Ashish Singh at Chhatrapur.

The Maoists were identified as Laxman Raita (Tudukapanka, Gajapati), Mamita Gamang (Patasala, Ganjam) and Ester Raita alias Mamata (Patasala, Ganjam). Laxman was the area committee member of Ghumusara division of the CPI (Maoist).

These three Maoists were reportedly involved in the abduction of two Italian tourists in March 2012. They were also linked to attack on Nayagarh Police Station in 2008. The surrendered Maoists confirmed that all deceased rebels of Bhaliaguda encounter were Maoist cadres.
