TNI Bureau: In a shocking development tonight, two Senior Editors of Zee News arrested for allegedly trying to extort Rs 100 crore from Naveen Jindal-led Jindal Group. The Editors would be produced in Saket court tomorrow.
Sudhir Chaudhary, Editor of Zee News, and Samir Ahluwalia, Editor of Zee Business, have been charged under various sections, including IPC 384. Zee News has claimed some eminent lawyers, this section does not apply to the Editors, as no financial transaction was taken
Naveen Jindal had showed a sting operation video to claim that the Editors tried to blackmail the company and sought Rs 100 crore not to air the stories against Jindal Group in Coal Scam.
Zee News has condemned the arrest and compared it to emergency. The channel wondered what was the hurry in arresting the Editors at midnight. It seems the Delhi Police wanted no media coverage and minimum public outrage over the issue.
