Ram Jethmalani expelled from BJP

Date:

The BJP Parliamentary Board has expelled eminent criminal lawyer and Rajya Sabha MP Ram Jethmalani from the party for six years. The decision was taken for his anti-party statements. Ram Jethmalani was suspended for launching a tirade against then BJP President Nitin Gadkari.

A few months ago, Ram Jethmalani stunned everyone by openly defying the party leadership and taking stands against the party line. He had even criticised the BJP for opposing the appointment of Ranjit Sinha as the CBI chief and showered praise on the Congress-led UPA Government.

Earlier this month, Ram Jethmalani “intruded” into a meeting of the BJP parliamentary party and questioned his suspension. He had asked the party to take a clear stand on this. Jethmalani had slammed the party leadership for keeping him under suspension for months even though he always fought against corruption and black money menace.
