Rajesh Khanna’s Bungalow renamed as Vardan Aashirwad
TNI Bureau: Rajesh Khanna’s bungalow, the iconic landmark ‘Aashirwad’ has recently been renamed as ‘Vardan Aashirwad’ according to the last wish of the actor. After his demise last month, his home on Carter Road in Bandra has almost turned into a shrine for the great actor’s fans.
The bungalow has got a history of itself. During his early days of acting career in bollywood Khanna had purchased the same from actor Rajendra Kumar. Then, name of the Bungalow was ‘Dimple’ set according to the name of Rajendra Kumar’s daughter.
However, Khanna wanted to continue with the same name but Rajendra Kumar was not comfortable with that and so urged for a new name to keep for the same. Thus, accordingly it was renamed as ‘Aashirwad’.
On the other hand Anita Advani, the lady love of the late actor is extremely upset with the change of name. According to her it would hurt Kakaji’s soul. She goes on depicting the story behind naming of the bungalow. It was named by Rajesh’s father as he was of a noble thought that once his son becomes an established actor and his fans send letters, they will write ‘Aashirwad’ after Rajesh Khanna, which will actually provide their blessings.
Rajesh Khanna lived in this house for nearly 40 years till his last breathe at the age of 69.
