TNI Bureau: Major quick-commerce and food delivery platforms, including Blinkit, Zepto, Zomato and Swiggy, have begun removing their ‘10-minute’ delivery claims following sustained intervention by the Union Labour Ministry, government sources said.
According to officials, Blinkit has already complied with the directive, revising its branding and dropping the 10-minute delivery promise. The company has changed its principal tagline from “10,000+ products delivered in 10 minutes” to “30,000+ products delivered at your doorstep.” Other platforms such as Zepto, Zomato and Swiggy are expected to make similar changes in the coming days.
Labour Ministry sources said Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya held meetings with leading delivery aggregators to address concerns over strict delivery timelines and their impact on gig workers. The move follows sustained discussions aimed at improving worker safety and working conditions.
The issue gained prominence after a nationwide gig workers’ strike on New Year’s Eve 2025, which highlighted concerns over health, safety and income pressures linked to ultra-fast delivery commitments. The matter was also raised during the Winter Session of Parliament in December, when AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha flagged the challenges faced by gig workers and called for stronger regulation, social security coverage and fair wages.
The decision to remove the 10-minute delivery claims is intended to ensure greater safety, security and improved working conditions for gig workers across platforms.
